People who have acquired visual impairment for any reason are called "intermediately visually impaired".There are some causes of visual impairment;
Aging
The number of visually impaired people increases as they get older. People who have no problems with vision in the first place often become visually impaired due to aging or illness.
Diabetes
Diabetes is one of the causes of visual impairment at an advanced age and becoming a prematurely visually impaired person. Diabetes, which is a lifestyle-related disease, may cause diabetic retinopathy as a complication as its symptoms progress. Diabetic retinopathy impairs social life, and the number of visually impaired persons is approximately 3,000 annually ("Study on Diseases of the Visually Impaired" by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare). Considering that diabetes, also referred to as a national illness, can also be a cause, visual impairment is one of the familiar disorders that can occur to anyone.
Accident
Accident may cause of visual impairment.
Injury in the eye
Eye injury during play, work or accidents can cause loss of vision and disability. The most common cause of vision loss is injury to the cornea.
Infection in the eye
If the mother has a viral infection, such as German measles, which spreads from the mother to the developing fetus during pregnancy, the baby can be born blind or blind.
Inherited condition
The most common cause of inherited blindness is Retinitis pigmentosa.
Amblyopia
This is primarily due to lack of use in childhood, which can lead to poor eyesight.Because the eyes both project differently and send different messages to the brain, the brain can stop or suppress images from the weak eye.
Cataract
Covering of part or whole of the eye.Generally, the lens allows in clear light to focus on the retina. This prevents cataract light from going through the lens easily and it can cause loss of vision. This condition usually affects the elderly. Symptoms include cloudy or blurred vision, difficult to see areas with dim light and bright light, color fade, double vision, and so on.
Glaucoma
This condition causes increased pressure in the eye. Increased pressure can block vision by damaging the optic nerve. It can also be seen in the elderly and some infants.
There are some other causes of visual impairment.
